1490 Doom : Five damned for the creeping death

I discovered 1490 Doom far too late. The crowdfunding window had already passed. Naturally, when I came across some photos on Reddit, I immediately wanted to know more. At first glance, I immediately thought of Mordheim, with its grimdark atmosphere, strong roleplay elements, and terrain covered with ruined buildings.

I had been planning to start a Mordheim campaign for a while, but the complexity of the rules and the large number of miniatures required were a bit intimidating. 1490 Doom seemed like a perfect alternative: simpler rules, smaller board, and fewer miniatures needed per gang.

Here are the five miniatures I have created so far.

I couldn't resist writing a little background for each one of them.

Edmon Gaulthier - Brute

Abandoned at birth in a peat bog, he was taken in and raised by the monks of Souvigny Priory. Somewhat limited intellectually, but possessed of an impressive physique, he was entrusted with the tasks of knacker and slaughterer of old animals.

Nicolas de Maltalent - Assassin

A fallen noble sold into slavery, sole survivor of the shipwreck of the vessel on which he rowed. Washed ashore on the southern coast of Spain, he was taken in by a sect who trained him in the arts of assassination.

Eusèbe de Montscène - Warrior Priest

Former crusader expelled from his order for religious extremism, he is convinced that the Creeping Death is the work of the Devil.

It is not uncommon to see him wielding his censer like a flail.

Hans Nagelkopf - Blacksmith

German blacksmith sent to Alsace for the construction of Rabenstein Castle. One day, he padded his helmet with wet cloth to limit the fumes.

Fate would have it that this was the day the castle was invaded by the Creeping Death.

Traumatized and driven mad, Hans was among the handful of survivors. Since that day, he refuses to remove his helmet. It is even said that he nailed it to his skull to ensure it would never come off.

Alcest Berthillon - Doom Hunter

Former master hunter of the Dukes of Deux-Ponts, Alceste is not only a skilled tracker but also an expert marksman. Spotting his horns on the horizon is the last memory many have before dying.
